- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, then mix until fully combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers remain soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra soft cookies, avoid overbaking and store them in an airtight container with a slice of bread to keep them moist.
