Ingredients

Cookie Dough
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, then mix until fully combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers remain soft.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra soft cookies, avoid overbaking and store them in an airtight container with a slice of bread to keep them moist.
