Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter Brings richness and moisture. Can be substituted with coconut oil for a dairy-free option.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Sweetens the brownies. Brown sugar can also be used for a deeper flavor.
  • 2 large eggs Acts as a binder and adds richness. For a vegan option, try using flax eggs!
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Forms the brownie structure. Gluten-free flour can be used as a substitute if needed.
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Gives the brownies their chocolate base. Dark cocoa powder can enhance the flavor.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Boosts sweetness and flavor. Use pure vanilla for the best results.
  • 1/4 tsp salt Balances sweetness and enhances flavor.
  • 1 cup Whoppers candy Adds a delightful crunch and maltiness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the Whoppers candy, making sure they’re evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Baking
  1. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  2. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  3. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

Don’t overmix to prevent tough brownies. Use good quality cocoa for better flavor. Experiment with mix-ins as desired. Check for doneness by ensuring the brownies are set around the edges but slightly soft in the center, and let them cool for cleaner slices.
