Method
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). If using a conventional oven, preheat to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Lightly flour a clean surface and unroll the pizza dough. Gently stretch or roll it into a rough rectangle or circle, about 1/4-inch thick. If baking in an oven, transfer the dough directly to the prepared baking sheet.
- Carefully spread the Nutella evenly over the entire surface of the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Arrange the sliced strawberries over the Nutella layer. If desired, sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts.
- Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the prepared pizza into small squares or triangles, approximately 1.5 to 2 inches per side. This will create your individual 'bits and bites'.
- For the air fryer, carefully transfer a few bites at a time (as many as will fit in a single layer without overlapping) into the air fryer basket, using parchment paper if desired for easier handling. Cook for 6-9 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through. You will need to cook in batches.
- For the oven, bake the entire sheet of cut bites for 8-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the cooked 'bits and bites' from the air fryer or oven. Let them cool slightly on a wire rack. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving warm.
Notes
For an extra crispy crust, consider pre-baking the plain pizza dough for 3-5 minutes before adding Nutella and toppings. Get creative with toppings! Other fruits like bananas, raspberries, or blueberries work well. A sprinkle of mini chocolate chips or shredded coconut can also be added. These 'bits and bites' are best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 day. Reheat briefly in the air fryer or oven for best results.
