Ingredients
  

Beef Mixture
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can tomato sauce 15 oz
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
Noodle Layer
  • 12 oz egg noodles
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
Topping
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned. Drain excess grease.
  4. Add garlic, tomato sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix the cooked noodles with sour cream and cottage cheese until well combined.
  6. Spread half of the noodle mixture into the prepared baking dish. Layer half of the beef mixture over it.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining noodles and beef mixture.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  9. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until hot and bubbly. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can substitute ricotta cheese for cottage cheese for a smoother texture, or add mushrooms for extra flavor.
