Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned. Drain excess grease.
- Add garlic, tomato sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the cooked noodles with sour cream and cottage cheese until well combined.
- Spread half of the noodle mixture into the prepared baking dish. Layer half of the beef mixture over it.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining noodles and beef mixture.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until hot and bubbly. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
You can substitute ricotta cheese for cottage cheese for a smoother texture, or add mushrooms for extra flavor.
