Prepare the Oven and Salmon
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Pat the salmon fillets thoroughly dry with paper towels. This step is crucial for achieving a nicely seared exterior. Place them skin-side down (if skin-on) on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring there's a little space between each fillet.
- Drizzle the salmon evenly with olive oil, then season generously with salt, freshly ground black pepper, and garlic powder.
Make and Apply the Boursin Topping
- In a small bowl, combine the softened Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs cheese, fresh lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons of finely chopped fresh dill or parsley. Mix well with a fork or spatula until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and the mixture is creamy.
- Evenly spread a generous layer of the Boursin mixture over the top of each seasoned salmon fillet. You can use the back of a spoon or a small offset spatula to create a smooth, even coating.
Bake and Serve
- Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The exact cooking time will depend on the thickness of your salmon fillets and your preferred level of doneness. The Boursin topping should be melted, bubbly, and slightly golden at the edges.
- Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven. Garnish with additional fresh dill or parsley, if desired, and serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges on the side. This dish pairs wonderfully with roasted vegetables like asparagus or broccoli, or a light green salad.
Notes
For best results, allow the Boursin cheese to come to room temperature for about 15-20 minutes before mixing; this makes it much easier to spread. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, though salmon is best enjoyed fresh.
