  • 2 tablespoons Fresh lime juice Fresh limes are best! Bottled lime juice can be used in a pinch.
  • 1/4 cup Red onion, finely chopped Can substitute with green onions for a milder taste.
  • 1 piece Tomato, diced Optional; can skip or use pico de gallo.
  • 2 tablespoons Cilantro, chopped Omit if not preferred.

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
  2. Using a fork or a potato masher, mash the avocados to your desired texture—smooth or chunky.
  3. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the mashed avocados and mix well to incorporate.
  4. Stir in finely chopped red onion, diced tomato, cilantro, and salt.
  5. Give it a taste and adjust the salt or lime juice if needed.
  6. Enjoy immediately, or cover tightly to prevent browning if storing for later.

Notes

Guacamole is best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. Pressing plastic wrap directly onto the surface minimizes browning. It can also be frozen for up to three months.
