Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated before adding the next. Add in the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Baking
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans, smoothing the tops.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For better mixing, use room temperature ingredients. Keep an eye on baking time to avoid dryness.
