Preparation
- Dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, egg, and salt. Add the yeast mixture.
- Gradually mix in flour until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle.
- Roll up tightly from one end and slice it into rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Glazing
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls and serve.
Notes
Store cooled rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for about 2 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving. You can add cinnamon to the dough for a cinnamon roll variation.
