Method
Prepare Ingredients
- Peel the honeydew melon, scoop out the seeds, and chop the flesh into approximately 1-inch cubes. Similarly, peel the English cucumber and chop it into pieces of a similar size.
Blend Agua Fresca Base
- In a high-speed blender, combine the chopped honeydew melon, chopped cucumber, fresh lime juice, and 1 cup of the cold water. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and no large chunks remain.
Strain and Dilute
- Place a fine-mesh sieve over a large pitcher. Carefully pour the blended mixture through the sieve, using a spoon or spatula to press against the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the remaining pulp in the sieve.
- Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water to the strained liquid in the pitcher and stir well to combine.
Sweeten, Chill, and Serve
- Taste the agua fresca. If desired, add 2-4 tablespoons of granulated sugar (or more, to your preference), stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved. You can also add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors, if preferred.
- Refrigerate the agua fresca for at least 30 minutes (or longer) to allow the flavors to meld and chill thoroughly. This step is crucial for the best taste.
- To serve, fill individual glasses generously with ice cubes. Pour the chilled Fresh Cucumber Melon Agua Fresca into the glasses and garnish with fresh mint leaves and an optional lime slice. Enjoy immediately!
Notes
This agua fresca is best served fresh and thoroughly chilled. You can store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days, though the flavors are most vibrant on the first day. For a spicier kick, add a thin slice of jalapeƱo to the blender in step 2.
