Ingredients

For the Sliders
  • 1 package Hawaiian sweet rolls 12-count package, kept intact
  • 1 lb deli roast beef thinly sliced
  • 8 oz provolone cheese about 8 slices
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp dried minced onion
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds optional
  • 1/2 tsp salt
For the Au Jus
  • 2 cups beef broth low sodium preferred
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper freshly ground

Equipment

  • 9x13 Baking Dish
  • Small saucepan
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Sharp Knife
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Mixing Bowl

Method

Prepare the Sliders
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Without separating the rolls, slice the entire package of Hawaiian rolls horizontally. Place the bottom half in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Layer half of the provolone cheese on the bottom half of the rolls, followed by all of the roast beef, then the remaining provolone cheese. Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese.
Make the Butter Topping
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, dried minced onion, poppy seeds (if using), and salt.
  2. Pour the butter mixture evenly over the top of the rolls, using a pastry brush to ensure it's distributed evenly and gets into the crevices.
  3. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
Prepare the Au Jus
  1. While the sliders are baking, prepare the au jus. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, and black pepper.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it reduce slightly, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve
  1. Remove the sliders from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes. Using a sharp knife, cut along the seams of the rolls to separate the sliders.
  2. Transfer the au jus to small dipping bowls. Serve the sliders warm with the au jus on the side for dipping.

Notes

For best results, use good quality deli roast beef that is sliced thin. You can substitute Swiss cheese for provolone if preferred. These sliders can be assembled up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerated until ready to bake. The au jus can be made up to 2 days ahead and reheated when ready to serve. Leftover sliders can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
