Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the nectarines in half, remove the pits, and chop into bite-sized pieces. Toss in a bowl with sugar and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, mix melted butter and milk until combined. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Assembly and Baking
  1. In a baking dish (about 8x8 inches), layer the nectarine mixture at the bottom.
  2. Spoon the batter over the fruit, covering it completely.
  3. Bake in the oven for about 35-40 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Cool slightly before serving.
