Ingredients
  

Filling

  • 4 cups sliced peaches fresh or canned (drained)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, toss sliced peaches with 1/2 cup sugar and lemon juice. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, mix flour, sugar, and baking powder. Stir in the milk to form a smooth batter.
  • Pour melted butter into the bottom of the baking dish. Do not stir.
  • Pour the batter over the butter. Again, do not stir.
  • Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter. Do not stir.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Serve warm.

Notes

For a twist, sprinkle a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg over the peaches before baking. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!
