Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- If coloring your dough, mix in the food coloring now.
- Scoop the dough onto a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for around 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow the treats to cool on a wire rack before icing and decorating.
Notes
Don't overmix the dough. Refrigerate if sticky. Use parchment paper for easy cleanup. Feel free to customize flavors and decorations!
