Prepare the Cream Cheese Base
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt.
- Using an electric mixer (handheld or stand mixer with paddle attachment), beat the mixture on medium speed until light, fluffy, and completely smooth, about 2-3 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Transfer the cream cheese mixture to a serving dish or a shallow pie plate. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the dip to firm up slightly.
Prepare the Caramel Topping
- Just before serving, warm the caramel sauce. You can do this in a microwave-safe bowl for 30-60 seconds, stirring halfway, or in a small saucepan over low heat until it's pourable. If the caramel is too thick, stir in 1 tablespoon of heavy cream.
Assemble and Serve
- Remove the chilled cream cheese dip from the refrigerator. Pour the warmed caramel sauce evenly over the top of the cream cheese layer.
- If desired, sprinkle with chopped pecans or peanuts. Arrange fresh apple slices around the dip for serving. Serve immediately and let guests scoop the creamy, caramel goodness with their apple slices.
Notes
Storage: Store any leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. The apple slices are best served fresh.
Variations: Add a drizzle of melted chocolate, a sprinkle of sea salt, or a pinch of nutmeg to the dip for extra flavor. For a crunchier topping, add crushed toffee bits or mini chocolate chips.
Make Ahead: The cream cheese base can be made up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Warm the caramel just before serving.
