Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 lbs Spare ribs Meaty and flavorful, can substitute with baby back ribs.
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce Use your favorite brand or make your own.
  • 1 Onion Yellow or white onions work well.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Fresh garlic is preferred; garlic powder can be a substitute.
  • 1 tsp Paprika Use smoked or sweet paprika.
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Trim excess fat from the ribs, rinse and pat them dry, and remove the membrane from the back.
  2. Generously sprinkle salt, pepper, and paprika on both sides of the ribs, rubbing it in.
Sautéing
  1. In a pan over medium heat, add a splash of oil and sauté chopped onions until soft.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
Combining
  1. Pour BBQ sauce into the pan with sautéed onions and garlic, stirring well to combine.
  2. Place seasoned ribs in the bottom of the crockpot and pour BBQ sauce mixture over them.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  2. For added caramelization, broil ribs for a few minutes with extra BBQ sauce after cooking.

Notes

Allow meat to reach an internal temperature of 190°F for optimal tenderness. Store leftovers for up to 3-4 days in the fridge or freeze for up to 3 months. Add BBQ sauce while reheating to retain moisture.
