Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, beat the unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet, mixing until just incorporated. Be careful not to overmix!
- Gently mix in your chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers look slightly underbaked.
- Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For an even chewier texture, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
