Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Stir until well blended.
- Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated and smooth.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, and salt to remove lumps.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- If desired, fold in chocolate chips or nuts.
- Drop tablespoon-sized rounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers still look slightly soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Don’t overbake to keep cookies fudgy. Chill dough for thicker cookies. Can double the recipe for gatherings.
