Ingredients
  

For the blueberry filling
  • 4 cups Blueberries, fresh or frozen Frozen blueberries may release more juice.
  • 1 cup Sugar Use brown sugar for a deeper flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice Can substitute with lime juice.
  • 1 pinch Salt Enhances flavors.
For the topping
  • 1 cup Oats, rolled Best results with rolled oats.
  • 1 cup Flour Gluten-free flour can be used.
  • 1/2 cup Butter, melted Coconut oil for a dairy-free version.
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Can substitute with nutmeg.
  • 1 pinch Salt Enhances flavors.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, and a sprinkle of salt. Toss to coat the berries.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the oats, flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in the melted butter until the mixture is crumbly.
Assembly
  1. Pour the blueberries into a baking dish, spreading them evenly.
  2. Sprinkle the oat topping generously over the berries, covering them well.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the blueberries are bubbling.
  2. Let the crisp cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. It's also delightful with a drizzle of heavy cream or yogurt.
