Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pans.
- In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Mix in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, blending until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
Baking
- Place the pans in the oven and bake for approximately 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for a smoother batter. Avoid overmixing to prevent a dense cake. Check for doneness a few minutes early as oven times can vary. Level tops if domed for even stacking.
